Sidewalk Project, Alphabet think to build and experience a city of the future

During the month of June 2015 Google establishing the new division Sidewalk Labs, which deals with developing technologies, solutions and deployment models to improve the quality of life in urban areas. Before you can bring in your own ideas real, the Sidewalk must obviously be tested somewhere. Invede to rely on projections and simulations, the division of Google (indeed, now Alphabet) has decided to adopt a much more practical approach and build his city.

As noted by the website The Information, and reported by Recode, the division of Alphabet is carrying out the Project Sidewalk: it is a plan for the creation of an urban district where it is possible to test self-driving cars, new WiFi communication solutions , new types of public transport and other urban planning ideas made possible by new technologies.

Sidewalk Labs has worked with over 100 experts and is now deciding if it wants to have its own plot of land where it will build a city capable of hosting hundreds of thousands of people or whether it wants to accept offers from various counties interested in building their own cities of the future. The team working on Sidewalk Project will bring the plan to the attention of Larry Page, CEO of Alphabet: the green light to the project will enable various US cities to present bids for the rights of "hosting" this year.

This is definitely a bold target for Sidewalk, which recruited a team of experts in recent months as a result dell'acqusizione a company engaged in the installation of high-speed WiFi hub in the city of New York. The details of ongoing activities in the context of the project are kept under strict secrecy, with manager Dan Doctroroff which stated that adaptation measures because a city can accommodate the cars to autonomous driving is only one aspect of the overall project.
