Fall of 10% PC sales in EMEA

The most recent analysis by Gartner confirms the state of difficulty in which is located the PC market, including regions EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) in which also includes Italy. During the first three months of 2016 have been sold about 19.5 million PCs in these areas, a decline of 10% in volume compared to the same period of 2015.

This data is aligned to the contraction of 9.6% recorded by Gartner globally in this time period. In the EMEA market occurred some clear trends, with a central drop in sales of PC solutions for the professional public. The justification for this is given by the expectation with which professionals look to new proposals based on operating system Windows 10, for which it is awaiting the renewal of the fleet and more towards the end of 2016.

However, what emerges is also a considerable interest in the category of notebook solutions of more reduced thickness and for models 2-in-1, capable of capturing sales both in the consumer sector as in the professional. positive demand even for notebook solutions for gamers, the EMEA consumers have shown their appreciation. The growth from these two niches is not, however, been such as to balance the overall contraction in the demand for new PC systems.

HP remains the quarter the major PC vendor in EMEA, with a market share of 22.4%; Lenovo ranked second with 18.8%, increasing in this quarter the distance of HP compared to the same period last year. Asus is in third place with 10.9%, the only company able to increase the volume of PCs sold in the quarter compared to last year. In fourth place are Dell with about 10% and the fifth Acer with 7.8% of the market total. The remaining producers, taken together, represent 30.1% of the market.
