Confirmed cyber attack on the air traffic control system

Different sources over the past two days confirm that interruptions to the service of the Swedish air traffic control, occurred between 4 and 9 November, were caused by cyber attacks supported by highly qualified groups apparently supported by the Russian government.

For now, however, there are no official statements on the part of official bodies or overt evidence. The only thing that remains are some interruptions, since there was a power failure which caused disruption on over 100 flights, with blacks screens and lack of information in different Swedish airports. The Swedish Government pointed to as the cause of outages simultaneous solar flares.

But as said, according to the latest rumors, it would own Russia the cause of the malfunction. The Swedish authorities have identified the responsible for the attack in a group identified by the name of Advanced Persistent Threat (APT), previously associated with certain operations carried by the agency of the Russian Spetsnaz GRU intelligence.

The confirmation of the veracity of recent reports would come from the fact that the Swedish government is not in any way denying the rumors, which are moreover tested and shown to be deemed reliable in the past have always done a good job of news of this kind. These include International Business Times.

The news would be started from defined sources "close" to the executive Swedish and NATO. Although Sweden is not part of NATO, it said to have sent messages to neighboring countries about the danger imminent cyberattack. Other data which suggests the perceived consistency of this attack.

The news is already alarming because it confirms how cybercrime groups are now able to support automated attacks capable of hitting almost all computer systems, including systems at the base of delicate services like the one at the base of the air traffic control , whose impairment may result in devastating damage.
