Roadmap of AMD GPU: after Polaris and Vega arrives Ships in 2018

Thanks to the site Video Cards emerges a new updated roadmap that provides information on what will be the next generations of GPUs that AMD will propose on the market in the course of 2016. However, no shortage rumors about what will be the future development expectations for 2017 and 2018 at least at the architectural level.

For this year, as noted, we expect the debut of the solutions architecture-based GPU with Polaris Polaris Polaris 10 and 11. These GPUs will be based on the architecture Graphics Core Next Generation, by implementing support for encoding and decoding and connectivity HEVC display according to the HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.3. The production technology used for the construction of these GPU will be the FinFET to 14 nanometers, here also as previously anticipated by the same AMD.

In 2017, presumably at the beginning of the year, we will see the debut of the architecture indicated by the name of Vega code. Of this family will surely partly a top of the range proposed, the first that will be combined with HBM memory technology (High Bandwidth Memory) second generation. NVIDIA has already announced a few weeks ago your card P100 Tesla GPU-based Pascal family and combined with HBM2 memory, without providing precise information on the launch period: it is conceivable that there will be in volume before the end of the year, precisely because even the reduced availability of HBM2 memory modules.

In the course of 2017 we can assume the debut of several GPUs Vega family, who will implement some of the most high-end technology models HBM2 but also find forms at least in the mid-range segment. The year 2018 will see the debut of the Navi family solutions, for which the only technique suitable AMD concerns like the Vega used memory technology. It is shown an architecture of new generation memory, for which, however, are not present in details.

It remains now to understand when exactly AMD will officially launch on the first cards of the Polaris family market: it's the Computex 2016 in Taipei, at the end of May, the seat of the first ads will see him before long.
