OLED display on the iPhone: 2.6 billion agreement to be reached with Samsung

According to a new report in the Korea Herald Samsung would reach an agreement on 100 million OLED displays to be supplied to Apple since 2017. The news comes after many rumors that they want Apple interested in particular in displays manufacturing technology not only for Apple Watch , but also for iPhone. To date the rumors speak of an introduction of the technology in 2017 or 2018, with the exact date still appears rather nebulous.
As for the agreement reached in the last hour, we talk about a figure of 2.59 billion dollars with a duration of at least three years. The 100 million OLED panels would, however, all 5.5 ": the report does not in fact talking about 4.7-inch panels to be integrated in the standard version of the iPhone, at least not by the Koreans:" According to the agreement will provide Samsung about 100 million units of 5.5-inch panels each year, with an estimated value of 3 billion won, "we read.
It is therefore increasingly likely that Apple wants to hurry to introduce OLED panels in their line-up of smartphones, probably creating a sort of greater differentiation between the 4.7 and 5.5-inch model. The news could not get into the devices expected by the end of this year, but for the variant of 2017, which should integrate many variations not only under the body (as you would expect from an "S" variant), but also to aesthetic level.
To reveal this juicy news was Ming-Chi Kuo. The KGI analyst has predicted a number of features and characteristics of past iPhone and revealed that in 2017 we will see the iPhone "with a completely new desing", finally with small frames and more comfortable ergonomics. The design of the iPhone of 2017 will be taken over from that of the iPhone 4 / 4S, with glass front and back. Apple is also considering a 5.8-inch model.
The Korean Herald contacted Samsung Display for further information regarding the news leaked, without receiving confirmations about the deal between the two companies.
