We had already seen for the first time LG gram, 15-inch version, last January. A few months later the laptop with premium luxury amenities finally arrives in the US alongside the two models 13 and 14 inches on the market since last fall. Available in two variants from $ 1099 with Intel Core i5 CPU and $ 1,499 with Core i7, LG gram is unfortunately not currently planned for the European market. But it remains a very interesting device.
Despite the 15-inch display, LG gram weighs about one kilogram and has sought technical characteristics: The display uses an LCD panel IPS Full HD (1920x1080) with a precise diagonal of 15.6 inches, while the CPU is accompanied by 1Gbyte of DDR3L RAM. Very interesting, as on smaller brothers, the relationship between the screen and frame. These are really at rock bottom, with the display that occupies most of the surface of the device.
On the front door there is a HDMI to connect an external monitor, two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, a micro-SD and there is a USB 3.0 Type-C. Under the shell there is a lithium polymer battery of two 4,495 mAh cells (34.61 Wh), which should deliver, specifications issued by the company in hand, operational autonomy to 7 hours on a single charge. The value was measured by MobileMark 2014 benchmark.
To move the whole we think the Windows 10 operating system, available on the laptop in the 64-bit version of Home. Lg gram makes itself known, however, mainly because of its stylistic characteristics, which not for the hardware sector. It is one of the lightest 15-inch display portable: the weight less than a kilogram (980g those declared by Koreans) was obtained through the use of a magnesium alloy and a shell from the very contained volume.
The surface of the device measures 357.6 and 228.4 mm, respectively, for the long side and the short one, while on the thickness, it is about 17mm. Awarded the Innovation Award at CES 2016 LG gram 15 "is sold in the US both online and in resale retail channels in the exclusive color New Gold.
