Tablet PC more: sales down 15% in the first three months of the year

During the first three months of 2016 we have been sold about 101 million devices including desktop PCs, notebooks, solutions 2-in-1 tablet. Canalys shows that this figure represents a decline of 13% compared to the same period last year, more than the figure for lower sales from the second quarter of 2011.

All product categories showed a decline in sales, with the sole exception of the 2-in-1 devices that have rather seen an increase in sales of 13%. This figure, which we have emphasized previously, it is very interesting but not such as to affect only marginally on the overall numbers. A hack into main measure on the decline in sales we find the tablet solutions, which decreased up to 39 million units in the quarter with a contraction of 15%.

All major manufacturers have seen sales in the negative, with Dell that has managed to be more than the other the descent due to a more balanced mix of products. Apple and Lenovo have closed with very similar in terms of sales volumes, while HP follows shortly spaced in third place. Dell is ranked fourth while the fifth victim Samsung are also a sharp drop in sales.

What to expect in the coming months? The PC market as a whole continue to experience a difficult period with sales lower than the past and tablets that are not standing as an alternative to traditional notebook so as to take its place on the market. It is a very mature market, you may experience a renewed demand from consumers and the professionals of the public when they materialize technological innovations that can change the way the systems use.
