Foobar2000, the media-player for audiophiles lands on iOS and Android

One of the most famous media players among the legions of audiophiles are now available, after a long beta, even on iOS and Android. foobar2000 is characterized by its very design, maybe too simple, but promises the graphical interface customization with custom skin just like on the desktop variant. At first start two specific themes will be available: a light, the other dark. But those are the audio feature that goes chose a player like that.

The application natively supports MP3, MP4, AAC, Vorbis, Opus, FLAC, WavPack, WAV, AIFF and Musepack, which can be processed dynamically with preinstalled DSP effects. Among these we have the possibility to enable the ReplayGain, or automatically increase or decrease the output of each individual track to avoid excessively large differences between a file and another. The application also supports playback and audio file downloads via UPnP media server.

At the time of this writing there are not many reasons why preferred foobar2000 to many other multimedia applications available on the mobile, with the new app which is struggling to capture the attention because of undoubtedly improved graphical interface. While it is true that you can customize on the other are not too many custom skins available for download. In addition, there does not seem to see any disruptive feature on the front of quality compared to other well-established solutions.

foobar2000 is still an application to watch, especially if you are music lovers and fetishists of sound quality. It is likely that the application will be altered over the next few months with additions and finishing work that will make it more comprehensive and in line with the desktop solution. We must also see how it will be accepted by the community, and how much will be taken seriously the possibility of interface customization.
