Google Official Home, one device to tame all household gadgets

During the Google I / O that was held in the evening of May 18 Google has announced a new device designed for home. An alternative to Amazon Echo, already heralded by rumor, named Google Home. To have it announced Mario Queiroz, the manager of the entire project as well as the man behind the Chromecast. Home is essentially the next step of the Mountain View giant within the Smart Home, a hub for all devices in the home.

Esthetically Google Home is a simple and basic product with a customizable base and able to disappear into the domestic furniture. Inside is a small speaker with long-range microphone that plugs into the electrical outlet and that is always listening. Google Home will listen to your questions, will execute your commands, play music and control all compatible household gadgets. In short, it will assist in the tasks of everyday life.

Google Home is not portable but it is an advantage, at least according to the designers who created it. The fact of always being complex makes it more powerful and versatile, without those typical battery supply limits. The product is designed to be inserted inside a so users can install more than one at home can set-up multi-room, to communicate among themselves, and among all the smart compatible devices through the Google Cast standard .

The small hub can be connected to a TV with Chromecasts for example, and through the voice commands we can launch videos on YouTube or execute other commands. Can be connected in the same way to a stereo, with which we could play, always with the voice, music from Google Play Music, Spotify, and other compatible software with the Google Cast standard. Home Google does not currently support multiple accounts , features that will be in the future.

The device can also respond to conversational type questions, with answers designed to be quick and simple. You can also book a restaurant or places to film, and make it simple passages of everyday life. At the time of writing we are missing unfortunately the open API for developers with which to increase the number of features. Apparently Google wants to focus for now on the improvement of quality of natural dialogue, and not on features.

Google Home will then work with a limited number of products, such as some models of lights and smart thermostats, and will do all that allows Google Now (which is not cheap). As we wrote just above the device will arrive later this year, at a price not yet officially announced by the company.

Apple’s AI Push: Everything We Know About Apple Intelligence So Far

Apple’s WWDC 2025 confirmed what many suspected: Apple is finally making a serious leap into artificial intelligence. Dubbed “Apple Intelligence,” the suite of AI-powered tools, enhancements, and integrations marks the company’s biggest software evolution in a decade. But unlike competitors racing to plug AI into everything, Apple is taking a slower, more deliberate approach — one rooted in privacy, on-device processing, and ecosystem synergy. If you’re wondering what Apple Intelligence actually is, how it works, and what it means for your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you’re in the right place. This article breaks it all down.   What Is Apple Intelligence? Let’s get the terminology clear first. Apple Intelligence isn’t a product — it’s a platform. It’s not just a chatbot. It’s a system-wide integration of generative AI, machine learning, and personal context awareness, embedded across Apple’s OS platforms. Think of it as a foundational AI layer stitched into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and m...

The Silent Revolution of On-Device AI: Why the Cloud Is No Longer King

Introduction For years, artificial intelligence has meant one thing: the cloud. Whether you’re asking ChatGPT a question, editing a photo with AI tools, or getting recommendations on Netflix — those decisions happen on distant servers, not your device. But that’s changing. Thanks to major advances in silicon, model compression, and memory architecture, AI is quietly migrating from giant data centres to the palm of your hand. Your phone, your laptop, your smartwatch — all are becoming AI engines in their own right. It’s a shift that redefines not just how AI works, but who controls it, how private it is, and what it can do for you. This article explores the rise of on-device AI — how it works, why it matters, and why the cloud’s days as the centre of the AI universe might be numbered. What Is On-Device AI? On-device AI refers to machine learning models that run locally on your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or edge device — without needing constant access to the cloud. In practi...
