Android VR almost official, explicit reference in the Google Play Developer Console

VR Android, Google's platform dedicated to virtual reality, is getting closer to the official announcement expected at the Google I / O. The news can be now considered almost official, given that the explicit reference to "Android VR" appears in the Google Play Developer Console, (this is the control panel that allows Android app developers to publish them and then manage them in Play Store).

Specifically, within the section "price and distribution" of the Developer Console, is the icon of Android VR, positioned next to the ones that identify the remaining Google platforms: Android Wear, Android TV and Android Auto. The icon graphics for Android VR is identical to that icon of Android Wear, it is, evidently, a simple placeholder added to the upcoming official announcement of the platform.

In recent weeks there have been many indications, even from official sources, which located in Virtual Reality one of the main topics discussed at the event dedicated to developers annually held by Google and that will start next week. Official agenda of the Google I / O, while lacking the direct reference to Android VR, there are in fact several sessions dedicated to Virtual Reality.

The Android VR marks the activation of Google entering a more mature phase of the business of Virtual Reality, after the first attempts made with low-cost Google Cardboard viewers. According to according to new evidence, Android VR will be a real platform dedicated to Virtual Reality, or, better said, a version of operating system Android optimized to handle the Virtual Reality viewers, as well as Android Wear, TV and the Auto they are related to wearable devices, the TV and infotainment systems.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal in February, Google could present a new viewer Virtual Reality, more sophisticated than the Google Cardboard and independent of PC and smartphone. A product that could act as a showcase to highlight the potential of the new Android VR platform. To know in detail and in an official Google project about it, simply wait for the start of the Google I / O set for May 18th.

Hello and welcome back to Max Q! Last week wasn’t the most successful for spaceflight missions. We’ll get into that a bit more below. In this issue: First up, a botched launch from Virgin Orbit… …followed by one from ABL Space Systems News from Rocket Lab, World View and more Virgin Orbit’s botched launch highlights shaky financial future After Virgin Orbit’s launch failure last Monday, during which the mission experienced an  “anomaly” that prevented the rocket from reaching orbit, I went back over the company’s financials — and things aren’t looking good. For Virgin Orbit, this year has likely been completely turned on its head. The company was aiming for three launches this year, but everything will remain grounded until the cause of the anomaly has been identified and resolved. It’s unclear how long that will take, but likely at least three months. Add this delay to Virgin’s dwindling cash reserves and you have a foundation that’s suddenly much shakier than before. ...
