Microsoft announces new wireless adapter Miracast and WiDi from 49 $

Microsoft renews its range of accessories announcing the new wireless adapter that allows you to project on an external monitor audio and video content from any device with support Miracast technology.

This is not a new type of product for the Redmond who had already presented at the end of 2014 two similar adapters, HD-10 and Wireless Display Adapter is still in the catalog and priced at 69 euro. Compared to previous models, the new adatttore comes with improved performance in terms of latency and a new form factor.

The adapter does not require specific apps to be run, since, as mentioned, any smartphone, tablet and PC compatible with Miracast can initiate screen projection into the adapter. Confirmed, moreover, the certification Intel WiDi (Intel Wireless Display) which allows to use it with tablets and 2-in-1 compliant with this standard.

The operating principle is that already seen in previous models: at one end of the connecting cable to the adapter located with the HDMI connector that must be plugged into the monitor or HDTV, the other a USB connector that will supply power and which can be connected, for example, into the USB socket of the monitor to minimize the flying cables:

Examination of the technical characteristics emerges the figure for the RF range that reaches up to 7 meters, the possibility of pairing with more devices (not simultaneously) and the support to the PCM audio format. Renovated, as mentioned, the form factor: the adapter measuring 103.5 x 22.0 x 11.0 mm (300 mm long connecting cable not included), while the weight is equal to 33.1 grams).

Microsoft confirms that pre-orders of the new wireless adapter to have kicked off in the USA and Canada, with an actual availability as of 1 March 2016. The asking price is equal to $ 49.95.
