Apple admits the bug of the iPhone date, iPad and iPod Touch. Fix coming soon

Apple officially intervenes in the case of the bug with the date that can determine the brick of the iDevice. An introduction is necessary to synthesize the story originated by users who had reported the risk of blocking (sometimes irreversibly) the iPhone, simply by setting the date to 1 January 1970.

Apple confirms first, that the devices affected include not only iPhone, but also iPad and iPod Touch, secondarily specifies that the bug emerges manually changing the date and moving it in any period prior to the month of May 1970. The effect is to now it is known: after the restart, the iOS device may not be able to boot.

While acknowledging the problem, Apple does not provide for any corrective action now, merely stating:

The company of Apple is actively working to correct the problem, but will need to wait for a new iOS software update. Meanwhile, in addition to the logical suggestion not to try in any way to move the date to that range, those who choose not to contact the customer service, as suggested by Apple, can empirically try to work around the problem and removing the SIM or leaving over discharge of the battery or by combining both methods. These are devices that, in some cases, have worked, but it comes to attempts that could also not be successful.

For completeness of information it is stated that Apple says nothing about the models concerned. Previous reports had restricted the number to those equipped with 64-bit processor, namely the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch with the processor A7, A8, A8X, A9, A9X. When in doubt, do nothing but wait for the arrival of the new software update with which Apple will fix a bug as "naive" as embarrassing, if you think about the fact that a simple system setup can make almost the whole device unusable.
