Intel and Micron to work on a 10 TB SSD for the enterprise sector

Everyone knows, or at least the fans, what are the main differences between a traditional hard drive and solid state drive. The first offer large capacities at low prices, but compared to SSD are much slower and delicate. The cost per GB of hard drive is vastly lower than that reported to the SSD, which is why we must make a careful choice of which solution to choose as needed.

In the consumer sector, things are changing a bit 'if until a few years ago SSDs costing lot offering a few dozen GB capacity, now you can spend a lot less than 100 Euro for a 250GB model of quality, quantity which may be enough for many needs. The enterprise sector, that of servers and databases, is much more complex and difficult to classify in one type scenario.

There may be cases in which only counts the capacity and not the performance, and then mechanical hard drive without thinking. In other situations should a hybrid system, while in others there is a combination of demands on both the performance plan and on the capacity. To meet this need many companies are already moving with large capacity SSD solutions, at prices that only the enterprise sector can afford.

The recently emerged rumors that Intel and Micron are in the process of presenting enterprise SSDs up to 10TB, using 3D NAND memory chips in multiple layers, such as Samsung to speak. The collaboration between Intel and Micron is longstanding, and even in recent times have emerged about the work done in collaboration, such as for system memory based on XPoint 3D technology. It should not miss much in the launch of these new units, thus enriching the offer enterprise SSD drives to also run very high income.
