With uTorrent becoming increasingly stuffed advertisement and paid subscriptions, the lightness and minimalism lovers Windows users can now rely on Transmission. It is a BitTorrent client is available on Mac OS X for over 10 years, which was launched in the past few hours even on the Microsoft platform with a promise to offer the same speed, reliability and lightness of this party on the competitor's platform.
The application has a weight of only 25 megabytes disk, it supports the way encryption protection and has a web-interface to control all current downloads through the browser. For each torrent downloading or seeding, you can also set individual speeds. All this is offered totally free of charge and without obligation displaying advertising banners, on both Mac and on the new version available on Windows.
The latter has not yet been promoted by the development team, and to download it and install it you need to look for files in the official download directory: transmission-2.92-x64.msi in case of 64-bit operating system, while for systems 32-bit file is transmission-2.92-x86.msi. The client should be substantially identical to the version already long been available for Mac OS X, both in terms of functionalities and from a graphical interface.
"The only difference now is that it can be run on Windows," he told TorrentFreak Mike Gelfand, responsible for porting. "Let's see how it goes, and some features specific to Windows and not necessary on other platforms may be added later." The team could promote the download of Transmission for Windows in the coming weeks, although we do not believe will be able to steal too many users to well-established uTorrent, Vuze or Deluge on the Microsoft OS.
