Nintendo: the production of WiiU could continue until 2018

President and CEO of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima, said that the production of the Wii U could continue until March 2018, despite the new NX console is set to reach the market this spring. The investor conference, which took place yesterday, explained the financial results of the fiscal year that has just ended, but the figures that leave the most perplexing especially regarding the sales forecast that Wii U should have in the space of 'the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2017.

Nintendo in its relations provides for the sale of only 800,000 Wii U over the next 12 months, a significant decrease compared to 3.2 million units sold in the previous year. so downward estimates seem to suggest that the cessation of production will take place very soon - as had been mooted by the Japanese newspaper Nikkei in March - but Nintendo does not seem to be of the same opinion.

The situation remains rather interlocutory also in light of the limited line-up scheduled for the remaining months of 2016, if we think that the only way of some weight is the new Paper Mario and the next chapter of Zelda has been officially postponed to 2017, in conjunction with the NX output.
