CD Projekt has returned to talk about Cyberpunk 2077 and apparently the ambitions of the Polish study in respect of this project are nothing short of stratospheric. During a recent interview, the CEO Marcin Iwinski said that the great success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - with over 10 million copies sold worldwide - has provided the study even more resources and the possibility of further raising the bar in view of the next title.
"Cyberpunk 2077 will be more ambitious in every single point of view, both in terms of development than on marketing," assured Iwinski, adding that the reference model is to huge projects like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption Rockstar Games.
"For us it is never about the money. Yes, we get the results, but always explain to our investors that we have a long-term perspective. Do not expect publications annually or for people to start making games just because there are market opportunities. Basically The Witcher 3 has proven that, at present, we have a lot of credit, therefore we should exploit it and take the time to make Cyberpunk something really significant in the whole industry. It must reach the next level of quality, and I'm not talking only for us but for the whole market. "
"If we think about our driving patterns, what Rockstar is doing it is fantastic. They do not think of publishing a game for fear of failing to meet financial goals, but rather think of putting on GTA V market, which by the way is the best title ever made. We look forward to seeing Red Dead Redemption 2, because it just show something everyone will say 'Oh my God'. "
This past March, Adam Badowski had described Cyberpunk 2077 as a mammoth task, better quality and more revolutionary than The Witcher 3. Moreover, it is not news that this project, announced for the first time in 2013, will absorb fully the firm's resources after the conclusion of the work on expanding Blood and Wine of the Witcher 3, arriving in June. But still it serves a long time, considering that the launch window is scheduled in the 2018-2021 triennium.
To ensure adequate support to CD Projekt project has plans to double the number of its employees, bringing it to the threshold of 400 units. Much of the staff will work at full capacity of Cyberpunk 2077, but other smaller groups will have the task of studying new segments of gaming.
