Apple Watch 2 with voice connectivity and faster processor according to the WSJ

The rumors on the second version of the Apple Watch are continuing with the information provided by The Wall Street Journal, an authoritative US newspaper. There are two innovations that are referenced the source: the first concerns the (predictable) improved hardware platform with specific reference to the processor, faster than the one used in the current model. More interesting, or better, less obvious, the reference to the presence of a mobile module, which could make it less less dependent on the wearable Apple iPhone. The WSJ says citing well-informed sources of the facts:

Apple is working to add cellular connectivity and a faster processor to the next generation Watch

Indiscretion, in principle, likely to go in the direction already outlined by Apple, aimed at making more and more independent from the smartwatch connected smartphone. Apple has recently established a new requirement for apps WatchOS: as of June 1, 2016, all new watchOS app sent to the App Store to be developed as a native app using the SDK watchOS 2 (or higher).

Apple has imposed this rule to improve the user experience of the app for Apple Watch (native ones are faster other residing in the memory of the iPhone, and which interact with the Apple Watch via Bluetooth), but the reasons ultimately They may be due to a larger project. Native apps running on Apple Watch 2 with cellular module could mean (almost) complete independence from the iPhone. In theory, you can leave the iPhone at home while you continue to receive notifications about the smartwatch or use the native apps of watchOS. It is not yet clear at the time, if the data form will be used only to provide data connectivity or even to handle phone calls.

For now all is quiet in Apple: the company, as expected, did not comment on the new rumors spread by the WSJ and the first date will prove useful to establish whether or not based is scheduled for WWDC to be held June 13 to 17 in San Francisco. The information provided by the source are contextualized as part of an article on the first anniversary of the launch of Apple Watch 2, come on the market on April 24 last year. A product which, according to the sales estimates provided by analysts, would have sold 12 million units in the first 12 months of life, about double of totalized sales from the first iPhone in the 12 months following the launch.
