Microsoft HoloLens, Now Shipping to developers and enterprise partners

The ambitious project of Microsoft aimed at developing a holographic viewer takes a new step forward with the start of shipments to early users who have had the opportunity to buy it. This is not yet the commercial version of Hololens, but that given over to the community of developers interested in making apps optimized for the viewer and Microsoft's hardware partners.

The Redmond had offered, as of last month, the ability to pre-order the development of the display kit priced at $ 3000, a necessary step to give practical way to begin producing content that will be usable in the future by the user consumer.

Microsoft, with Hololens, has managed to capture the attention of important companies and counts altisonati names in the hardware partners rose that they chose to use the viewer: from NASA to Volvo, through colleges such as Case Western Reserve University.

As for content already available for Hololens viewer, Microsoft announced the availability of Galaxy Explorer astronomy app, downloadable from the Windows Store shortly and whose code can be freely modified by developers interested. On the stage of Build 2016, also it rose (again) the Skype version optimized for Hololens.

Nothing new, however, the end-user front, even on the occasion of Build 2016. It is not yet known when it is expected the arrival of the consumer version of the viewer, or, even less, what is the asking price. Microsoft has never made any secret that the Hololens project must be projected on the medium to long term to perceive fully the contours and the expectation, then, is not finished.
