Intel, comes the 5-series SSD mainstream

Intel updates its range of solid state drives presenting the new series 5, which will be called 540 to indicate its fourth generation. It will be a series intended for the mainstream market, since for the most efficient Intel versions using the nomenclature 7 as the opening theme, proposing PCIe, etc. etc. NVMe solutions.

The new series consists of models with 180GB cuts, 240GB, 360GB, 480GB and 1TB, is available in classic form factor 2.5-inch slim 7mm, both M.2 in the length 80mm version. For all the selected interface is the SATA6Gbps, which is understandable when we propose today to the mainstream market in search of the strike price.

It knows virtually nothing about the chip, except that they are of the type TLC, nor on the controller used, but we will know more soon. The performance according to Intel are approximately 560MB / s for reading and writing that, beyond the declared, align a bit 'with all the competition.

Good news on the guarantee, which is 5 years (many mainstream competitors on beyond 3 years and no other SSD with TLC chip is provided with such a long coverage). As Intel tradition are not the prices declared except by batch of 1000 pieces. In this case not even that. As soon as we have more information we will report it.
