Speedlink has sent us two products for our test. Let's start with DECUS Gaming Mouse, a product specifically directed to the most demanding players that allows a deep level of customization, and that turns out light and agile. It is the ergonomics of Decus that struck us most, since it is particularly well suited especially to the claw and fingertip grip, with the wrist of the hand that remains firmly fixed on the mat or on the surface on which the mouse is resting.
DECUS Gaming Mouse is characterized by a very precise laser sensor with a maximum sensitivity of 5000 DPI, however, freely configurable via the supplied software. The user can set four different sensitivity settings and associate profiles that enable different illuminations on the mouse, with a level of precision in this aspect which is characterized by a 100 DPI increments. The minimum settable sensitivity is 400 DPI, while the player can move on in-game between profiles by pressing the button located in the center of the device.
One element that distinguishes this gaming solution is certainly the backlight, very aggressive if set on the effect breathing, seen going to activate two colors at once among the six available. It's Volcano Red, Yellow Flash, Cobalt Green, Iron Blue, Midnight Blue and Tyrian Purple. There are two settings for the light effect: on and off, and players can freely configure the color through the software.
Which it is rather revealing spartan, but still allows you to set many parameters. For example the sensitivity separately between the two axes. The software also allows to configure the sampling frequency, selecting one of the available values of 125, 250, 500 and 1000 Hz. Although the rate of fire is editable, from a minimum value of 2ms up to a maximum of 255ms. The speed of the double-click, the Windows pointer of the page and scrolling side-scrolling can be changed from the "System" section. Do not miss the section reserved for macros, configurable at will and associated to the various buttons on the device.
Also the function of each of the seven buttons on the device is customizable and, also, there is the so-called "Rapid Fire" at the top left, which runs through hardware simulation of repeated pressures which in fact has not been effected.
The mouse controls all these settings via its internal memory 128kBit. It is also equipped with a 1.8m braided cable that ends with a gold-plated connector.
Together with the smoothness on the surface of the game, it is the ergonomics to make this device a special solution. Also because the side parts are entirely loaders, while the supporting surface is wider in order to accommodate the fingers easily. With DECUS fact, the players leave the wrist on the table, while all other fingers are on the device. The scroll wheel completes a very positive picture, as it turns out convenient and reliable.
In short, even considering the price, which stood at € 49.99, we have to say they were absolutely impressed with this solution for gamers. The only real downside for the software, some 'woody and simplistic.
Turning to Parthica Core Gaming Keyboard, it is a membrane solutions with different configuration possibilities and the large macro space allowed. The keyboard is in fact equipped with software that allows you to save profiles and associate them with games: These profiles are then retrieved when you start the game associated with them. Each profile is then assigned a color, which allows you to quickly identify the key assignment is enabled.
For we have 5 dedicated macro keys, and using the software, you can very easily configure sets of buttons to associate with these keys. There are also 10 dedicated keys for media controls, while the keys specifically dedicated to gaming, like the W, A, S, D, are highlighted with a special design on the key cover. The Windows key is also deactivated using the software.
Among the various possible customizations, we find the ability to configure the sampling rate of the USB connection up to 1000 Hz and response time, with four selectable levels until at least 2 milliseconds. The USB cable is 1.8m.
Top left, instead, we find the Profile button, you need to move quickly from one set to another profile: the user can store up to 5 profiles using the internal memory to the device, in this case 128kBit.
The rollover is limited to 6 buttons, while other solutions in its class we complete rollover that act on all the keys. This means that in certain conditions the pressure limit of a button may not be recorded.
Although the keyboard does not give absolutely feeling of strength, one must say that the ergonomics are good thanks to the compact and non-removable wrist rest, the rubberized surface and vertical adjustment. The backlight is available in three colors: red, blue and purple. You can set the intensity or enable the breathing effect.
Parthica Core Gaming Keyboard is a very simple solution, clearly not comparable to feedback and precision to the most renowned mechanical keyboards. On the other hand Speedlink tip again on the price, even in this case 49.99 €.
