What is a VPN, or virtual private network you prefer? In this case it is a very dear navigation mode to lovers of the issues of privacy and protection of personal data, which allows to establish a private network within a network that is actually public, such as the internet. In addition to protecting personal data and privacy, a VPN allows circumvent regional restrictions, getting access to certain sites or Web services blocked locally.
This is a feature that often requires client or web-app dedicated, but Opera has decided to add natively on their desktop and mobile web browser. As with the other additions VPN operated by Opera, the new application for iOS uses the American service SurfEasy VPN acquired by the company last March. SurfEasy already offers its own stand-alone applications for desktop, Android and iOS, but after a trial period requires a subscription fee.
Other VPN services use the same mode of operation, or otherwise rely on banner ads to earn the user access. The Opera's approach is rather different: free forever and for a quantity of unlimited data with no need to pay either a subscription or seeing uncomfortable banners while browsing the web. Opera promotes new Opera VPN as "particularly relevant in the campus and in the workplace."
This is because the Wi-Fi networks provided by the institutions can have access to armored "social media and video streaming sites". The app allows you to route the connection to the internet via another country (among the options Canada, Germany, Singapore and the USA) to access blocked content in a given geographical area, offering also features ad-blocking and anti-tracker.
