Acer has recently unveiled a new range of PC systems for gamers, developed to offer full hardware support to viewers for the latest generation of virtual reality. The Taiwanese company interest for this new sector is, however, at least at present, limited to developing hardware and systems to match the different viewers on the market.
As indicated by Digitimes website at this address, Acer would not therefore plans to present its own alternative VR viewer to the proposals on the market. At present, according to the Taiwanese company, there would be much interest in these solutions but the so-called "killer application is still missing", ie the scope of use that they actually drag the sales of these products over the most passionate group.
In this market phase Acer sees with interest the attention to the VR solutions since they generate demand for high-end hardware solutions, for which the Taiwanese company has prepared a comprehensive range of products. This allows you to better work on margins, sacrificing the policy followed in the past mainly made of high sales volumes and less of higher margins from sales research.
Difficult, at present, does not agree with the Acer's market vision with reference to the virtual reality solutions. The interest is certainly very high, but in consumer, gaming aside, it is difficult to identify a scenario of use for VR viewers who is really able to push a large number of consumers towards purchasing the viewers and hardware to these combined. And 'no doubt that we are facing a small revolution in the computer industry: will the next few months to tell if this revolution is destined to become great.
