Google Maps on iOS updated with the new 'Travel time'

Although Apple Maps is much improved with time and the big problems he had in early substantially resolved, Google Maps is still one of the most used solutions of iPhone as satellite navigation. The Google application has been updated in the past few hours even on the App Store, introducing some innovations: the most interesting is time in hours, a new widget that allows you to continuously monitor traffic on the routes most used by users.

Setting the home and work addresses, the new widget allows you to keep an eye on the duration of the journey from home to work route, and vice versa. The user can select whether to receive the travel time by car or by public transport in accordance with specific requirements, with the results that are shown (and upgradeable through a special button) at any time on the Notifications Center, in the "Today" which includes all active widgets.

To activate the new feature is sufficient to enable the widget inside the specific screen: from the pull-down Notification Center, and in the section Today, you have to press the Edit button at the bottom and select Travel times, then pressing Finish. The widget will appear within your list with the items that will be shown if and only if we set in the application of the home and work addresses.

The new version of Google Maps (4.18.0) for iOS introduces new settings and features minor. Below is the official changelog as announced by the developer:

Use the extension time in hours today to quickly check traffic when you go to work or go home (you must save home / work)
Share directions with your contacts
Night mode settings and the unit of distance in the Navigator
Bug fixes
The update is downloaded and installed automatically when the device settings are those of the iOS default, and can also be forced manually via download on the App Store.
