The fluidity of the frame rate plays a key role in PlayStation VR and will require overcoming the usual 30 fps that are found in most productions destined to console.
Chris Norden, senior developer at Sony Computer Entertainment America, assured, during the Game Developers Conference, that the graphics performance of each project will be closely monitored and will be discarded all the titles below the threshold of 60 frames per second.
"The frame rate is really important, you can never fall below 60 frames per second. If you send us a title that gets to 55, or 51 ... probably we refuse. I know that I will receive criticism for what I'm saying, but there is no excuse for not meeting this threshold, "said Norden.
"It 's really hard, I do not lie to you by saying that it is extremely easy, because it is actually really complicated. 60hz is the minimum acceptable framerate. Well, take this. "
Norden then wanted to clarify the misunderstandings that have been circulating in the last hours as regards the external PlayStation VR unit function. The device will in fact be used by developers as an additional CPU to increase the graphic quality of games, but will serve only to ensure correct processing of stereo images required for the VR.
We remind you that the debut of PlayStation VR is planned for the month of October to 399 Euros. However, it was not included in the price PlayStation Camera, which will, however, essential to the fruition.
