iOS 9.3: Suspended update for older iPhone and iPad. Fix coming soon

Less than a week away from the release and following the reports of iPad users who are experiencing problems being updated, Apple chooses to temporarily suspend the distribution of iOS 9.3 for iPhone and iPad older. Apple's statement to iMore site allows for a more detailed restrict the models affected.

The update of some iOS devices (iPhone 5s and earlier models, iPad Air and earlier models) to iPhone OS 9.3 may require you to enter the Apple ID and password used to set the device. In some cases, if customers do not remember the password, the device remains in the state not activated until they recover or reset their passwords. For these older devices, we have temporarily removed the update in the coming days we will release an updated version of iOS 9.3 that does not require this step.

For users who have already encountered the problem - for example by entering an incorrect password by mistake or if not possible to enter a password, Apple has posted a page on the official support site that contains a potential solution to break the deadlock. A mechanism which involves logging into iCloud, the device activation through iTunes or removing temporane dell'Activation Lock via the web. The steps are described in detail on this page of the official website.

If the interim solution does not have a positive effect, we have to wait the corrective update release - substantially less than iOS 9.3 release - which will upgrade to the latest version of the mobile operating system from Cupertino in a even more easily.

For completeness, we note that the new version of iOS 9.3 (Build 13E236) with adjustments intended to iPad 2 users has already been spotted on the network and is available for manual installation. To avoid any kind of problem, in any case, we recommend that you wait for the official set via OTA, along with those for the iPhone owners.
