Intel Core Broadwell-E: debut in Q2, probably at Computex

The debut of the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v4, solutions for servers up to 2 sockets, is expected by the end of the month with the availability of new systems which should be almost immediate. These proposals are based on the architecture known by the codename of Broadwell-EP code, able to offer top of the range in variations up to 18 cores per socket.

During the second quarter of 2016 will be the time of the debut of Broadwell-E solutions, destined instead to the enthusiast end desktop systems currently based on Haswell-E processors. For these processors the debut period should coincide with the Computex Taipei, an event which will open officially on Tuesday 31st May.

A confirmation, although not official, comes from ASRock that updated the bios of various own motherboards based on chipset Intel X99 in conjunction with this note:

Support new CPUs coming Q2 2016

The reference is obviously to the Broadwell-E proposals, while the Computex is deducted as it is an essential event for all the motherboard manufacturers who are engaged in the development of solutions for Intel's enthusiast range.

The new CPUs Broadwell-E will introduce for the first time the production technology to 14 nanometers in this end products, allowing to have available a number of cores that start from 6 of the most economic proposals of this family until the core 10 of the top version of range. The Haswell-E proposals currently on the market are equipped with a variable number of cores 6 to 8 depending on the model.
