On March 21 Apple announced the new iPhone SE, entry-level proposal for a smartphone market that consists of usually more bulky devices. It is the cheapest Apple smartphone ever with a price in the US market starting at $ 399. It retains the same form factor of the iPhone 5S and the same diagonal of the display; compared to the latter however, the nomenclature is changed, eliminating the numerical progression and leaving only a mysterious "SE".
The previous Apple "economic" smartphone was called iPhone 5C, with a suffix that has been targeted by the most sympathetic of the web users: there was, in short, those who believed that the C meant "Cheap". The presentation of the smartphone but we've all been proved wrong and, despite the polycarbonate shell, iPhone 5C was anything but "cheap", with C which probably meant Colorful because of the many bright colors and jaunty rear bodywork.
As for the new model, to reveal the meaning of the name was Phil Schiller. The marketing chief Apple responded to a Q & A with Jason Cipriani FortuneTech, declaring that SE stands for Special Edition. iPhone SE is thus for iPhone Special Edition. But it's really a special smartphone? Points of view: if we go back to made just above reflection, iPhone SE is in fact the only top of the range to boast such a small screen.
In a market that requires ever larger screen for viewing web pages, multimedia content, photos and videos, Apple's choice seems anachronistic, as well as out of place. However, according to data from the company told during the presentation event it seems that there is still a market with display solutions so small. Last year the company sold 30 million devices with smaller form factor, and is likely to be still one ahead monetization.
