And 'Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, confirming how the company will deploy its technologies within 3 console next generation expected to debut in a relatively short time. Lack of more precise details, but considering how these three products will go to support the solutions that AMD now already developed for the console market is not difficult to make some assumption.
The first is the reference to Sony Playstation Neo, a name that currently represents the next evolution of the platform Sony Playstation 4 with which the Japanese company plans to increase the processing power thereby making it more suitable for use with Playstation 4K display as well as with VR viewers.
To this product is expected the use of a chip component that integrates CPU with 8 cores Jaguar AMD, characterized by a clock frequency higher than at present, alongside a new GPU supposedly based on the architecture of the Polaris family.
Looking to the future it is likely that AMD is also involved in the new projects of Nintendo and Microsoft; for the second may be an evolution of the Xbox platform, in this case also developed to ensure higher speed performance perspective of virtual reality and of the new high resolution display. For the first, however, the reference is to the console Nintendo NX also in portable version.
What are the consequences for AMD? A good level of business, valued at approximately $ 1.5 billion in revenue spreads in the period of production of these new consoles. An interesting business for the American company which confirms the efforts towards developing an alternative business to that of traditional PC solutions, so as to better diversify sales channels.
