The challenge of the 2-in-1: Samsung Galaxy S TabPro vs Microsoft Surface Pro 4

More and more manufacturers investing in the segment of devices 2-in-1 Windows 10, a product category that Microsoft with Surface and Surface Pro line has helped shape, drawing a paradigm device declinable and declined by major PC market player in multiple variants. Among the companies that have recently chosen to invest in the 2-in-1 Figure sector with Samsung Galaxy S TabPro presented a hybrid that comes into direct competition with Microsoft's Surface Pro 4. Similar products in appearance, but with important differences they can guide the choice towards one or the other product.

Microsoft enters the market with a product objectively more mature than the 2-in-1 Samsung. After four iterations, the Redmond has finally managed to reach an optimum level in the difficult balance between the two souls of the 2-in-1 that of the tablet and the laptop. Samsung now beginning to explore the specific market segment and therefore has more room for improvement to be exploited, while proposing a device for design and construction fully meets the standards typical of premium-end devices.

The strength of the Galaxy Tab Pro S points, a product that comes after a few months of the launch of Surface Pro 4, can be spotted in the Super AMOLED display - this is the first 2-in-1 Windows 10 equipped with sAMOELD screen - in the construction that borrows the distinctive features of the Android tablet range of Samsung and the reduced thickness, without neglecting the advantage of including in the price a keyboard cover that must be considered an essential element to fully exploit the product as 2-in-1. Microsoft Surface Pro 4 responds with a screen which, although not of type Super AMOLED, is of very high quality, a body with a very high quality level, a better keyboard cover, a kickstand most versatile and includes in the price a great stylus.

As for weaknesses, we report a smaller connections park TabPro Galaxy S - integrates only Type-C USB port - the least versatility offered by the cover / keyboard compared to the Surface Pro 4 integrated kickstand, the impossibility to choose different configurations compared to that of base that integrates an Intel Core M3 CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Microsoft Surface Pro 4, on the other front, comes with a body a bit 'thicker heavy, separately agrees to make the purchase of the cover / keyboard and does not provide in any of the configurations available 4G LTE connectivity, unlike the TabPro Galaxy S.

A discriminant to make the selection is the amount of time you plan to spend using the cover with keyboard and integrated touchpad. Microsoft Surface Pro 4 offers the best keyboard cover, includes the stylus provided, and offers the ability to choose multiple configurations (those with Intel Core M3, to those higher performance with Intel Core i5 and i7) that can satisfy even those who have the ' need to use a very handsome car without neglecting aspects of mobility. Given that both are, of course, devices designed for mobile use, Samsung Galaxy S TabPro emphasizes more the tablet core, thanks to the housing which makes it more comfortable to use, especially without cover.
