Some call them selfies, those who prefer to continue to define them self-portraits, but the substance does not change: the fashion of photos taken in themselves - alone or in groups - continues to be particularly prevalent among users of smartphones and compact camera. Essential, for many, is the use of selfie stick, the "magic wand" that prevents sprains and strains produced in a desperate attempt to frame a particularly large group of friends with a wide-angle lens that is not invariably. The selfie stick of the future could be rarppresentato by a drone like Hover Chamber, recently presented by the Chinese Zero Zero Robotics.
It is a compact, folding drone when not in use, able to fly until it reaches a maximum height of about 50 meters, and weighs less than 250 grams, a feature that allows you to use it without fulfilling the obligations registration required by FSA rules. The frame is made of carbon fiber, it is held in flight by four propeller engines, while the SoC used is a proven Qualcomm Snapdragon 801.
The peculiar feature, however, is represented by the photographic functionality. The integrated camera can capture 13-megapixel photos and record video in 4K. The face tracking feature, together with the optical image stabilization system and flight, make it suitable for self-portraits, the video recording made while following the subject "track", without neglecting the practice (at least on paper) panoramic mode: the drone performs a rotation 360 while it remains in suspension in the same spot.
The user can simply leave in Hover Flying House not far from the face or launch it by covering a greater distance; in this latter case, the stabilization system will report immediately to balance the drone. In promotional materials accompanying the presentation of Hover Chamber is done on several occasions reference to the exercise of control functions via smartphone app that allows you to change the captured area, height, and takes the picture.
Hover Chamber is not yet on sale, the project is in beta testing and the company is looking for candidates to complete it. Zero Zero Robotics plans to commercialize the particular "drone-photographer" an estimated retail price of around 530 Euros; yet to determine the markets where it is expected to be distributed. The next group selfies will click it?
