Désilets obtained by Ubisoft the rights on his game

After the failure of THQ, the most important intellectual property that until then had belonged to the American company they have been divided among the various publishers, including Ubisoft also. The transalpine company, specifically, secured the 1666 rights: Amsterdam, a project curated by Patrice Désilets, the game Canadian designer known as one of the most important veterans of Assassin's Creed series.

Patrice Désilets had opened a legal dispute with Ubisoft to get back the rights to the game he devised a few years ago. The controversy led to the dismissal of Désilets by Ubisoft and the cause launched by the latter, which requested $ 400,000 in damages and license for the commercial exploitation of 1666: Amsterdam.

The two sides reached an agreement, which gives Désilets full control over the franchise, both from a commercial point of view and from the creative. Ubisoft had paid this license $ 2.5 million in the bankruptcy auction at THQ. On that occasion he also assured South Park, in that case for 3.27 million dollars.

Désilets has already stated that it will not resume work immediately on 1666, but will continue to work on the project recently announced, Ancestors: The Odyssey Humankind, carried out through the new studio he created, Panache Digital Games.

To underline, finally, as the series he bore her, Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft has led to significant sales, and is now recognized as one of the most "powerful series' entire gaming landscape.
