Announced Xenonauts 2, the "true" heir of Ufo Enemy Unknown

Xenonauts 2 won't be a chronological sequel, but will cover a timeline parallel tothat of the original game, or an alien invasion during the cold war. This meansthat humanity will not have advanced alien technology he had obtained in the first game. In addition, this approach allows developers to modify slightly the history and setting of enemies "in order to create a more interesting sequel," reads the official website.

This is not a full announcement, because this will happen later when GoldhawkInteractive will be ready to host a website, artwork and gameplay footage to understand better what will be the real changes to the structure of the game.

The most significant aspect concerns the transition from proprietary technologybehind the game earlier than the Unity3D engine, which will mark both thetransition from two-dimensional to three-dimensional objects completely sprite.This will rotate the shots, handle better animations, applying physics to objects, to trace accurately the trajectories of projectiles, and more.

The combat system based on Time Unit will return in improved version with a new user interface and more tactical options like UFO destructible and better useof vertical terrain, while the humans will be able to access psionic powers.

Even the Geoscape — the global view of the planet, will see improvementsrelated to search trees and the choices that you can make about theOrganization's anti-enhancement. Goldhawk speaks of greater decision-making power for players from both perspectives.

Air combat will be redesigned to be less frequent and deeper on the tactical plan.Shift will also be built into the structure of the rest of the game and will involve a higher number of fighters. The aliens will be made both in terms of their appearance that artificial intelligence, to ensure a greater and more crediblechallenge from the point of view of answer back to tactical and technological advancements that the gamer will make over the course of the campaign.

Many of the limitations of the previous game, insufficient financing andGoldhawk, explains were due to the need to remain as faithful as possible to theX-Com: Ufo Defense (Ufo Enemy Unknown in Italy) of 1994. Now the team is said to have gained the experience necessary to expand the game and bring it to a new level.

England and his team hope to release Xenonauts 2 in 2017.
