6 Million Surface sold in 2015

We are the fourth generation of the Microsoft Surface Pro platform, and it is time for the American company to reap the benefits of the long process of development and promotion of this series of 2-in-1 devices. The latest sales data made public by Microsoft, combined with those from mobile device makers partners reported by Digitimes, indicate a total of 6,000,000 of Surface devices that have been sold in the market during 2015.

In its latest financial report Microsoft has indicated an increase in sales of 29% of Surface devices during its fiscal second quarter, corresponding to the fourth quarter of 2015, compared to the same period last year. Merit of this result is linked to the availability of the Surface Pro 4 models, as well as the new Surface Book as limited to only the north American market at the present time.

The sales estimates for 2015 amounted to 4 million Surface tablet, but this figure was easily surpassed thanks to the volume of 2.5 million pieces sold in the last 3 months of the year. The expected growth rate for 2016 continues to be supported, with an estimated 8 million pieces. The notebook market is in trouble and the same can be said of the tablet proposals, but the field of 2-in-1 device shows clear signs of interest from the market with positive sales rates and considerable increases compared to last year.

Surface with Microsoft helped develop a market and an ecosystem, leading consumers to learn more about hybrid tablet solutions based on Windows operating system. In recent months various manufacturers historically engaged in the world of notebook solutions they chose to enter this market segment, alongside the Surface and Surface Pro models with their own solutions with similar technical choices but in some cases even by a much more aggressive price positioning .
