Ubisoft, litigation against EA for the brand Ghost Recon

Ubisoft has decided to initiate proceedings against Electronic Arts for using the Ghost brand. The confirmation came from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, US administrative agency responsible for the registration of patents and trademarks. According to the findings of the French publisher document it intervened to block the EA was requested on January 29, underlining that it is in possession of the "Ghost Recon" brand and that for this reason the demand made by rival company can not be validated.

Electronic Arts sent two different requests for the Ghost brand March 18, 2015, as specified in the documentation of Ubisoft. In the months of September and November you were already demands of the opposition and on the second occasion the USPTO had given until the end of January 2016 reserve the right to pursue remedies against the request made by EA.

Obviously one of the main arguments is the fact that both companies will be engaged in software for entertainment, categories that are defined as "identical and highly related to the services offered by Ubisoft in relation to the Ghost Recon brand".

It was not clear what the intent of EA in the use of the brand, while Ubisoft is currently working on Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, announced for the first time at E3 2015. Electronic Arts will have until March 9 to formally respond to Ubisoft, if not do the case will be transferred to a higher court of justice.
