According to what reported from Techpowerup, Sony makes its entry into the world of Solid State drives, presenting the series that goes by the name of SLW-M. It is usual to expect big news when the Giants are moving to make its entryin areas never previously occupied: well, that's not the case.

The units are completely missing basic information, besides ordinary as chips and controllers are used. The documents relate to the availability of two cuts, 240GBand 480GB, sold only in Japan too, at least for now.

Facilities include the software to clone disks Acronis True Image and Sony SSD Toolbox, for device management. The form factor is the one to 2.5 inches with a thickness of 7 mm, the interface is SATA 6Gbps & performance typical of these units: 560MB 530/MB/s read and write.

It only remains to wait for a possible marketing in Europe too, just to see at leastthe placement lists. The units are intended for the public consumer, so it should be accessible in price.
