The Driving Google Maps Mode was announced last January for certain very specific markets, but was not available for our country. At least until a few hours ago, when the first "international" users have been seen appear the functionality within the application. It does not need any update, with news that seem to have been introduced on the server side by the Mountain View giant. At the time of writing it is available only on Android devices.
What is Driving Mode? It is a display mode that lets you use the navigation interface even when no destination has been set. It is meant to be used during a journey of which we know the way, but through the deep learning algorithms and data mining company we can still receive real-time information such as route length for home or work, or information on relevant points during the journey.
To activate the Driving Mode simply access the application menu on the left (marked with the "sandwich" with the three horizontal lines) and select "Start driving." At this point it appears the traditional navigation interface, the major difference being that no "fixed course will not be marked" to be followed. However, the app will continue to give us suggestions on possible destinations based on your browsing history.
A very interesting mode for those who use the browser even when knows the destination and that in some circumstances may allow you to save time by choosing another path, for example, if the first is congested. Google started the roll-out of the server-side functionality on Android devices around the world, so you should receive it without any necessary interaction.
