Zotac Announces PC Stick ZBOX PI221 and PI 220 with Windows 10 and Atom X5-Z8300

Zotac continues to explore the segment of stick PC, announcing two new models: ZBOX ZBOX PI220 and PI221. Enclosed in mini form factor PC that does not differ too much from those of a common USB dongle. The new models are based on the Intel Atom x5-Z8300 architecture with 14nm Cherry Trail processor that improves energy efficiency and performance over previous generation models.

The rest of the hardware equipment includes 2GB of RAM, 32GB of eMMC storage. Despite its compact size, also PCs Zotac sticks are with a very good park connections: There is a WiFi 802.11ac module - offering the possibility to connect an external antenna - a Bluetooth module 4.0, an Ethernet port standard size, reader of memory cards, headphone and microphone.

The two models differ only for the cooling system: active and based on micro fan in the case of the PI220, completely passive in PI221. It is complete mini PC, ready for use after connecting to the monitor via the HDMI output. Zotac has it preinstalled on both models, the Windows 10 operating system 32-bit Home Edition.

The PI221 is already reported in the Italian site of Zotac, but the company has not yet announced the price and availability date of both PC stick. Further information on this will emerge, probably, at Computex 2016 which kicks off in Taipei on May 31 next.

Zotac anticipates that the PI221 is already the winner of the Design and Innovation Award in Computers and Systems, at Computex 2016 award given to products that are distinguished by construction and design solutions. Part of the credit goes to the completely passive cooling system, realized through a metal shell specially designed to achieve the purpose.
