The multiplayer portion of Doom will be developed in collaboration with Certain Affinity. It has already been displayed on the occasion of Quakecon and in a series of Alfa limited. But now id Software revealed new modes and features like hack modules and Via della Guerra.
It is the classic "King of the Hill" mode in Doom style revisited, with the difference that the capture point moves in a circular motion on the map by following a predefined path. At the same time, a rune demon able to turn the tide of the game is moving along the same path, but in the opposite direction. Players can run to upgrade and transform into a demon-killing Marine, crowding around the point of capture to defend or steal control, or wander around the map to hunt for enemies.
The hack modules instead are disposable consumable items that can get you progress through the game. The more you play, the more hack modules are obtained (but are not tied to microtransactions). Among the hack modules are fueling timer, useful to display the power-regeneration timer.
Other modules include hack Punishment, showing location and health of the last enemy that killed us; Scout, on our return, reveals all enemies for a few seconds; Vital Signs, which displays the energy bar of the enemy; and Lust for power, which signals all upgrades nearby. All these hacks modules have timers, but the active one is interrupted in the event of death.
