DiskStation Manager 6.0 version, the operating system of Synology NAS

Synology has announced the release of DiskStation Manager 6.0, the operating system developed by the company for use in its products for archiving data. The new release focuses on the need, more and more obvious, to provide tools for collaboration and sharing among users who are cloud based but at the same time not jeopardize the privacy and data ownership.

Using a Synology NAS compatible with the new version of DiskStation Manager is therefore possible to have access to a range of specific applications that enhance personal productivity and teamwork. An example comes from MailPlus packages and MailPlus Server, respectively mail client and the mail server, which can be run directly from Synology NAS offering the flexibility of access via the cloud security to have physically installed data in its NAS and then with full control direct.

The effort by the Synology DiskStation Manager 6.0 version to ensure superior productivity in team work is evident by looking at some of the packages provided as a free download. An example comes from SpreadSheet, spreadsheet that runs directly from our NAS ensuring that flexibility in team work which is made accessible in the cloud programs but which in this case has such strength guarantees that the data is physically close.

Very interesting also the business perspective the new packages Virtual Docker DSM and DSM, thanks to which you can run multiple instances of DSM on a single Synology NAS as well as multiple physical servers and build a reliable, flexible and multi-tenant. Cloud Station will sync files between different devices by creating a private cloud environment, providing the ability to synchronize data or perform scheduled backups of data to cloud storage services.

Thinking about the user needs a home NAS is increasingly the center of its library of multimedia content to be accessed with different types of devices. Video Station and DS video have been redesigned, allowing you to manage your video library can archive the content in an automated way and taking advantage, if the NAS in use allows, the transcoding functionality in hardware so as to reduce network traffic and can send video streaming even outside the local network using the web connectivity in your home.

With the 6.0 release of its operating system, Synology DiskStation Manager confirms the quality of its software component, an element that plays an increasingly important role in the process of choosing a NAS both domestic as for usage in the office. And if for domestic users a physical NAS installed in your home is the obvious choice when you need to store and protect a large amount of data, for the professional user the flexibility introduced by DiskStation Manager 6.0 allows the creation of hybrids use scenarios that give priority to local storage or in the private cloud, depending on the specific application needs.

Version 6.0 of DiskStaton Manager is a free download from your Synology NAS, by accessing the panel "refreshes and restores."

The Silent Revolution of On-Device AI: Why the Cloud Is No Longer King

Introduction For years, artificial intelligence has meant one thing: the cloud. Whether you’re asking ChatGPT a question, editing a photo with AI tools, or getting recommendations on Netflix — those decisions happen on distant servers, not your device. But that’s changing. Thanks to major advances in silicon, model compression, and memory architecture, AI is quietly migrating from giant data centres to the palm of your hand. Your phone, your laptop, your smartwatch — all are becoming AI engines in their own right. It’s a shift that redefines not just how AI works, but who controls it, how private it is, and what it can do for you. This article explores the rise of on-device AI — how it works, why it matters, and why the cloud’s days as the centre of the AI universe might be numbered. What Is On-Device AI? On-device AI refers to machine learning models that run locally on your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or edge device — without needing constant access to the cloud. In practi...

Apple’s AI Push: Everything We Know About Apple Intelligence So Far

Apple’s WWDC 2025 confirmed what many suspected: Apple is finally making a serious leap into artificial intelligence. Dubbed “Apple Intelligence,” the suite of AI-powered tools, enhancements, and integrations marks the company’s biggest software evolution in a decade. But unlike competitors racing to plug AI into everything, Apple is taking a slower, more deliberate approach — one rooted in privacy, on-device processing, and ecosystem synergy. If you’re wondering what Apple Intelligence actually is, how it works, and what it means for your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you’re in the right place. This article breaks it all down.   What Is Apple Intelligence? Let’s get the terminology clear first. Apple Intelligence isn’t a product — it’s a platform. It’s not just a chatbot. It’s a system-wide integration of generative AI, machine learning, and personal context awareness, embedded across Apple’s OS platforms. Think of it as a foundational AI layer stitched into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and m...
