According to the Korean online magazine The Electronics Times, the Taiwanese company TSMC, or Taiwan Semiconductor Manufactory Company, has reached an agreement with Apple that will make it the only supplier of processors that will be within the new generation of iPhone. All this to the detriment of Samsung that, on occasions of previous generations of the iPhone had just joined the company based in Taiwan in the component production.
According to TSMC would surpass Samsung in the Cupertino giant preferences because of the production lines ready for the realization of the chip with the production process to 10 nanometers. According to the timetable released TSMC is expected to start mass production of the chip dedicated to the new iPhone 7 in the course of next summer, ahead of the smartphone's release scheduled for September. The chip will probably be called Apple A10.
It is not the first time that Samsung is relieved of her duties. Even when Apple commissioned the old A8 production was totally entrusted to TSMC, only to backtrack and re-divide the contract for the latest A9 between two different manufacturers.
Obviously, with a competing company like Samsung is used in the production of one of the most important components of its flagship smartphone, Apple could not miss the problems. Following the launch of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, and benchmark tests have shown that the chips produced by TSMC worked objectively better than those produced by Samsung. lower temperatures during operation, better performance and longer battery life are the main differences between the two different types of processors.
There only remains to wait for the new generation of iPhone to see if indeed that of Apple has been a winning choice. What is certain is that all the new generation iPhone will have the same performance, maybe.
