Surface Book is sold in Europe, excluding only Italy for now

A few hours away from the firmware distribution, the intent of Microsoft, is expected to improve in an important way the performance of the 2-in-1 Surface line, multiply the net reports on the possibility of buying the Surface Book in several European markets. The news of the expansion of distribution channels is not surprising, since it had been anticipated by Microsoft in January and that, subsequently, the company kicked off the pre-orders in their Microsoft Store European Online. From the phase of pre-orders it has now switched to the actual availability of the product.

A quick survey of prices in the Swiss market, identifies the most cost-effective, considering that it comes after the change of the official prices expressed in Swiss francs at the official online store. To get hold of the model with configuration "basic" or with Intel Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage required 1,699.00 Swiss francs, about 1537 euro exchange rate, while the most handsome model that integrates Intel Core i7 CPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB of storage and dGPU is proposed to 2,999.00 Swiss francs, about 2,715 euro change.

Leveled, and higher, the prices reported in the Microsoft Store in Austria, France, Germany and the UK: it starts from 1649 Euros for the base version and you get to 2919 euro for the more handsome through the two intermediate configurations (a few tens euro more in the UK, taking into account the change from the pound). The distribution in Europe is not limited to Microsoft's online store, but extends to online retailers like Amazon UK (to be considered when evaluating the purchase abroad because the shipment is expected also in the Italian market) .

Italy, unfortunately, continues to remain excluded from the list of nations in which you have enabled the distribution of Surface Book, a product that has generated considerable interest in the presentation and the initial distribution in the States, in the light of technical solutions used by Microsoft for the realization of the construction level and which meets the standards of premium products. The price, in an absolute sense, it is certainly not content, especially if you take into account the high-end configurations that reach 3000 euro. It is true that, despite being in substance a 2-in-1, the Surface Book presents specificity such that does not allow you to easily equate it to other converged devices.

The wait for Italians interested users to make direct contact with the product before the purchase is not yet complete. It is not impossible that in the future, Surface Book will be officially distributed in Italy, but it is unclear when and under what circumstances this mode will occur. The Redmond could follow a model not too dissimilar from that for the marketing of the first Surface Pro, arrived in the Italian market for almost a year after its debut in the States. Something that would be better not to occur in order to avoid proposing an already "old" (in the hi-tech market, unfortunately, the commercial obsolescence can be reached in the range of a few months).

Apple’s AI Push: Everything We Know About Apple Intelligence So Far

Apple’s WWDC 2025 confirmed what many suspected: Apple is finally making a serious leap into artificial intelligence. Dubbed “Apple Intelligence,” the suite of AI-powered tools, enhancements, and integrations marks the company’s biggest software evolution in a decade. But unlike competitors racing to plug AI into everything, Apple is taking a slower, more deliberate approach — one rooted in privacy, on-device processing, and ecosystem synergy. If you’re wondering what Apple Intelligence actually is, how it works, and what it means for your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you’re in the right place. This article breaks it all down.   What Is Apple Intelligence? Let’s get the terminology clear first. Apple Intelligence isn’t a product — it’s a platform. It’s not just a chatbot. It’s a system-wide integration of generative AI, machine learning, and personal context awareness, embedded across Apple’s OS platforms. Think of it as a foundational AI layer stitched into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and m...

The Silent Revolution of On-Device AI: Why the Cloud Is No Longer King

Introduction For years, artificial intelligence has meant one thing: the cloud. Whether you’re asking ChatGPT a question, editing a photo with AI tools, or getting recommendations on Netflix — those decisions happen on distant servers, not your device. But that’s changing. Thanks to major advances in silicon, model compression, and memory architecture, AI is quietly migrating from giant data centres to the palm of your hand. Your phone, your laptop, your smartwatch — all are becoming AI engines in their own right. It’s a shift that redefines not just how AI works, but who controls it, how private it is, and what it can do for you. This article explores the rise of on-device AI — how it works, why it matters, and why the cloud’s days as the centre of the AI universe might be numbered. What Is On-Device AI? On-device AI refers to machine learning models that run locally on your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or edge device — without needing constant access to the cloud. In practi...
