Opera, the browser to the Chinese for $ 1.2 billion

Excluding the solutions of the most renowned IT companies, Opera is one of the browser for surfing the web most common. It is a story of the last hours the possible acquisition of the Norwegian company by a Chinese consortium formed by companies Kunlun Tech and Qihoo 360. The consortium has offered $ 1.2 billion Norwegian, with operations that are financed by the signatures of investments Golden Brick Silk Road and Yonglian.

Offering a figure so large the group is overestimating Opera by over 50% compared to its actual stock value if we take as reference the closing price on 4 February. It was just last Thursday that the first acquisition rumors have surfaced to the public, a phenomenon that has forced the Oslo Stock Exchange to close trading on the stock certificate. Concurrently, the company has postponed the earnings call scheduled on Wednesday morning.

According to reports Recode, which quotes the general director of Opera Lars Boilesen, the board is considering "unanimously approve the" Takeover: "There is a strong strategic and industrial logic for the acquisition of Opera by the Consortium, "said the manager of the Norwegian reality. "We believe that the Consortium, with its wide experience and its strong position in emerging markets, will express forcefully the Opera property".

Boilesen also stated: "The possession of by the consortium brand will strengthen the Opera position to serve our users and our partners with a capacity of even greater innovation, and accelerate our expansion plans and growth". The news however is not surprising that much since Opera has since last year seeking a buyer, and the offer from the Chinese group is those hard to refuse.

In addition to the desktop browser, Opera is renowned for its compression technology of websites and integrated video before rendering the page and its advertising division to the mobile devices.
