It's been about two months since Instagram has allowed advertisers to post videos of up to 60 seconds. From today, the social network video / photo has decided to extend the same possibilities also ordinary users.
Instagram has introduced the ability to shoot and edit video in June 2013 with a time limit of 15 seconds. Starting today and over the next few months, gradually all users can shoot and edit video clips lasting up to 60 seconds.
The measure is part of the long-term strategy that Instagram is implementing and that led her to gradually transform the feed from a stream of static pictures at a collection of videos (with more revenue potential). In the past six months, the time spent by Instagram users in watching videos grew 40%. A few weeks ago Instagram has announced the addition of the counter to the views of videos uploaded by users, in order to help advertisers measure the scale of operations.
In addition to the extension of the time limit on videos, Instagram door (or rather, reintroduces) functionality on iOS, or the ability to create videos using various clips in the roll chamber of the phone. This feature will be included in the 7.19 version of Instagram for iOS.
The extension of the length of videos will instead be made available to all users starting today and gradually over the next few months.
