Lenovo server solutions will be produced in Europe

It 'a very important announcement to Lenovo that choose to bring the production of enterprise solutions and data centers in Europe through its partnership with Flex. The latter is the old Lenovo partner for the production of its server solutions and for some time has started a manufacturing unit in Hungary on behalf of its clients.

What are the consequences for Lenovo customers? Delivery of the fastest systems than is the case at the present time, thanks to the physical proximity. Lenovo estimates that it could reduce the delivery time from the current 2 weeks, with construction systems in China, in about a week. In a market in which the short time they have become a key feature of the geographical proximity is a definite strong point.

Production in Europe leads to think to an increase in production costs of servers and enterprise systems, but it is not. Wilfredo Sotolongo, vice president and general manager Data Center Group Lenovo EMEA, has confirmed that the increase in labor costs since the production in Europe than in Asia being offset by a sharp fall in logistics-related costs.

By the end of the second quarter, Lenovo will start production of a product line in the new production site in Hungary, and then gradually transfer the entire production for the EMEA market in Hungary within the first months of 2017: we speak of x86 servers, the entire range of storage and networking solutions for data center environments.

This innovation strengthens its partnership with Flex, a company that is currently responsible for the production of a range of Lenovo products including PCs, phones, ThinkServer and spare parts for tablet systems. The Hungarian production plant in Sarvar has already delivered the fifth million PCs sold to Lenovo EMEA.
