Logitech announces that it has reached an agreement to acquire Jaybird, a US company known for its rich portfolio of wireless headsets dedicated to fitness enthusiasts. A commercial operation from $ 50 million, to which could be added another 45 million dollars, if Jaybird reach the targets agreed in the next two years. Logitech is the stated aim of strengthening the supply of wireless audio devices, is currently structured in brand products Logi (see. Bluetooth speakers) and in peripheral designed for gamers.
Jaybird has stood since 2008 for the production and direct sales of premium wireless headsets suitable for athletes as BlueBuds X and X2. high-end earphones, intended for a well-defined target audience and also marketed in the Italian market with a street price that amounted to figures just under 200 Euros. In Jaybird catalog does not miss the activity tracker Reign equipped with special sensors for detecting the heartbeat and monitoring of sleep.
The category of activity tracker, however, does not seem to fit at the moment in Logitech's priorities. In explaining the reasons that led to the commercial move, Logitech is in fact merely points out that the acquisition will allow to better address the new challenges of the wireless audio device market, leveraging the strength of Jaybird brand and the experience gained from 'California-based company. Bracken Darrell, Logitech President and Chief Executive Officer, commenting in these terms the acquisition:

As one team we can face the fast-growing market for wearable wireless audio devices with all the benefits of the brand's strength and experience in sports Jaybird, and our sound design capabilities. With both brand Ultimate Ears and Jaybird in our portfolio, we are expanding the growth potential in the long run our business in the music industry.
The well-known manufacturer of accessories is obviously interested to pursue the commercialization of existing and future products Jaybird continuing to use, at least initially, the Jaybird brand without affixing your own. Logitech expects to finalize in the next weeks the agreement reached with Jaybird, subjected to unspecified conditions.
