Android N available the Developer Preview 2

Google releases the second Android Developer Preview N (NPC91K) in just over a month away from the first version. The development process of the next major release of Android continues with the introduction of three new features, updates of the APIs and the usual bugfixes. Access continues to be reserved for holders of a Nexus device: supported 5X Nexus, Nexus 6, 6P Nexus, Nexus 9 and Pixel C.

The innovations introduced by the new release of Android N include:

Support Vulkan libraries, API for 3D rendering that Google helped develop as a member of Khronos. As is known, by reducing the overhead of API (reduction of GPU workload to process requests made by bees) promise a major increase in performance compared to OpenGL ES libraries. With the Developer Preview 2 Android, Vulkan is an integral part of the platform, and developers can start using Vulkan Developer Tools .
Shortcuts in the launcher. The app supports the shortcuts that the user can freely position in the launcher. Shortcuts trigger specific actions or sections of the app, allowing, for example, to quickly send a message, play the next episode of a TV series in an app like Netflix, etc.
Emoji support Unicode 9. Google has introduced a new design for the emoji that become less generic and more "human". Developers can then begin to incorporate new emojii in messaging app. Below are some examples provided by Google.

M Android Developer Preview 2 also brings an update of the API with the aim of refining capabilities previously introduced. Google specifically refers to APIs that let you manage the multi-window mode and notifications, but the list is even more extensive. These are changes that can not be immediately perceived end user side, but important to advance the development path of the operating system. Interested developers can find all the details about linking to this page.
Rounding out the picture the inevitable bug fixes, largely coincide with those that fix problems reported by users with a public bug tracking system. Among the bugs fixed include the inability to connect to hidden WiFi networks, pauses video playback in Multi Windows mode and a bug in the quick response management app messages.
As mentioned in the opening, N Android Developer Preview 2 is reserved to holders of a Nexus device. E 'can be part of the beta test program. The Android Developer Preview 2 N can be downloaded via OTA or, alternatively, installed by the factory image available at the official website. Please remember that Android N is a release of Google's mobile operating system is still developing and that the release currently available are mainly addressed to developers. Instability and more or less serious bugs are therefore to be put into account, while the installation through factory image requires a fair mastery of the software platform management tools.
